John Redfern

As a young boy while watching his grandmother paint, John was fascinated with her ability to create wonderful landscapes using a brush and paint, making a canvas come alive.   Looking back John realizes it was these special times that acted as a nucleus, creating the artist he has now become.  While in school he painted various projects and murals that were proudly displayed at both school and municipal events.

His art took a back seat for several years while he raised his small family but his love of art, the Canadian countryside and wildlife soon called him back to the easel. Today his diverse and detailed renderings reside in many private homes and commercial offices throughout Canada, the U.S.A., as well as Europe. Painting in acrylic, oils, pastels and graphite, his art has been presented in solo and combined exhibitions throughout the area, resulting in many commissions, including landscapes, wildlife scenes, and portraits.

When considering the “All Things Bright and Beautiful” charitable event, John was happy to offer his work of our Canadian country life.  His painting gives us a glimpse of the rugged rural life, specifically our Amish community and their incredible work ethic, toiling alongside their majestic team of horses to provide food for the community.

John hopes that you enjoy his rendering of “Six-Horse Hitch” as much as he enjoyed painting it.
